National Art Education Association

I have a link in my Diigo library to the National Art Education Association because it is an online community of practice where visual arts teachers, scholars, researchers and professors, students, administrators, art museum educators, and artists come together around a shared belief in the power of the arts in developing human potential. The next NAEA national convention, “Creativity, Imagination, and Innovation in Art Education” is March 17-20, 2011 in Seattle. It is a 4- day professional development event that will bring together leading experts in teaching, learning, and the arts with thousands of visual arts educators representing all teaching levels and backgrounds. Participants can choose from over 1,000 sessions focused on practical research and teaching strategies, arts workshops, exhibits, and tours focused on professional development for visual arts educators.
Being aware of organizations like this helps me to work toward Teacher technology standard 4D. because participating in these organizations and conventions will get me involved with other professionals. It is important to edgage with colleages to learn  about other cultures and share and learn new methods and digital-age communication and collaboration tools.
